PLAYGROUND

DESIGN CORRIDOR
PACIFIC NORTHWEST COLLEGE OF ART
March, 2020

Playground is about creating a space dedicated to creativity and the enjoyment of childhood, but also exposing the hidden dangers behind over sheltering and control. When a child is sheltered or hidden from something so harshly, it makes them more and more intrigued by it. I intend to show specific memories that are swarmed by childhood fears and habits through objects, familiar figures and nostalgic landscapes.

Some memories that I have of my childhood, are warped over time and are filled with events that never even happened. Was the memory created by a home video? An exaggerated story? Or through imagination? This show is to explore that distorted past and how it impacts me today.
